Fun for hours.
By Amber
Bought this for my 5 year old daughter who's a bit of a my little pony fanatic. She loved it. She was anxiously awaiting it before it came and after it came she played with it for 3 hours straight making ponies. Her only complaint was that it was missing yellow (to make fluttershy). Otherwise it's a great product. Just read the instructions to figure out how to make the ponies. It's a little tricky to make all the ponies but it's definitely fun to try.
Their is a little press to make manes/tails and a disc that has all their cutie marks and on the other side it has the ponies companions/friends to make. Just start by filling in the color you want for the eyes, put in the playdoh for the body, put in the inner mold for the pony you want to make, and SMUSH... you've got the pony! Then you just put on the mane/tail/cutiemark/accessories and you're done!
Just don't expect the result to look like on the box

The box says this is for 3+, but there is no way a 3 year old would end up with anything remotely Pony-like without the parent doing all the work. My 9 year old and I did it together, and our Ponies were still really rough looking. The directions are poor, there is barely enough play-doh to complete 4 ponies, and not in the colors to match 4 ponies. The extruder for the pony mane/tail is a piece of junk, don't even bother using it.
The cutie marks are so tiny it is impossible to use properly and have the color in the right places. Thankfully my daughter was okay with the result, cause this might have caused a meltdown on a different day.
Practical advice for those who choose to buy it anyway: make the cutie marks first, do not fill the two sides of the pony mold all the way (maybe 3/4 full?), use barely enough color for the eyes or the color will spread across the entire face, use your hands to make the strands of color for the mane/tail instead of the extruder, do not expect the cutie marks to look like anything because the mold is too delicate for even the smallest piece of play-doh. As the parent, expect to do a lot of the work.
Well Worth The Price I Paid For This, It Got My 7 Year Old Back Into Playdough and Kids Can Make Up Their Own Ponys!

First I have to say how cute this was for the price. My daughter is 7 and this was a present in her Easter Basket, it was one of the first things she wanted to open and was very excited to try it. She made 2 ponies her first time and I have to say it was a little difficult to get them to turn out like the box pics (if they ever do). I was so surprised to find MLP playdough and never see anything like this were we live. I think its a great gift for any MLP Lover and has lots of options for changing hair, cutie marks, tails, eye color etc. My daughter knew how everything worked immediately (faster than me) and the only suggestion I have is to have a few large cans of dough ready to use which makes filling the mold easier.
First fill in the eye area with the colors you want to use THEN You fill each side of the mold with dough and next put the base figurine inside, close it and squeeze but getting it back out in one piece is a little tricky and younger kids will need help. Under each figurine base are the cutie mark molds. The white tube you see in the picture is for manes and tails. I gave 4 stars because of the trickiness of getting the finished pony out of the mold in perfect condition but other than that it has lots of possibilities.
I love MLP Playdoh

I bought this for my almost four-year-old it was a gift for her Easter basket. It was a little tough for her to make the ponies using the molds but she liked using the stampers and enjoyed decorating the ponies once they were made. It includes 6 small playdoh tubs which are good for the details but you'll need more Playdoh especially for the mane and tail. My daughter wanted applejack but yellow isn't included so make sure to have the right color for the desired pony if your child is super specific (mine is) :D
The extruder is different because it is divided into to parts so you can add two different colors to make the mane and tail and I think it looks cuter that way. Plus you can remove the tip of the extruder which helps to clean it when done playing. My 9 year old neice loves it too and is able to make the ponies all by herself. My ponies aren't as perfect and the ponies pictured on the box though. :-( I can see the "seam" where the mold is pressed together. I may just need practice. But overall loads of fun.
Fun, but you need to buy multiple kits

My daughter (and I) had a lot of fun molding these ponies. There are a few drawbacks. The first is there is not enough -doh to mold the pony you'd like. Most of the containers are small and can't make a full pony. When the ponies you can make are complete, which is only three because there isn't enough to make a fourth, you would need to buy more -doh which means you also need to buy more complete kits because extra molds aren't sold separately.
I gave four stars because it is a lot of fun, but now I know I need to buy everything in excess to be able to make what my daughter wants, which is not what any parent wants.
