boring, messy, cheaply made, poorly designed.
By MEREDITH

I'm not sure how this got rated as a "top toy" because it's not even tops in the cheaply made, poorly designed, playdoh sets category. The plunger for the set is not solid and poorly fits into the mold. This causes excess playdoh to get stuck in a hard to reach cavity within the plunger where it will stay and dry out eventually coming out as a sharp, dried doh shard ready for some sweet foot stabbing action. The plastics are thin walled, and the molds almost worthless since they don't have a way of attaching to the cheap, sticker covered minion figurines.

The play doh sent with the kit seemed drier and more crumbly than usual, which made cleanup even hard as it tended to disintegrate into tiny rice-like pellets after pushing through the single extrusion mold available with this set. Play time from box opening to boredom was about 10 minutes for this one-dimensional toy. absolutely awful.

It broke!Cheaply made, and difficult to clean.
By Mila's Mom

I hate this thing.

My daughter is OBSESSED with play-doh, so we have a slew of tools, gadgets, etc. She received this for her birthday and it has been a battle ever since. I should have just thrown it away. I'll break it down easily for you:

-- the minion tubes are too long and it is difficult/time consuming to get the playdoh out of the top of its head and the little holes. I'm NOT impatient, everyone who plays with this with her complains about this.

-- it's insanely messy -- even for playdoh. the tiny tubles of playdoh this thing creates are difficult to "keep track of" and are easily blown/swept out of the play area and end up all over the place, including, but not limited to: squeezed into her shirt/sweater/pants fabric, the upholstery of my chairs, the carpet, the dog's hair, my daughter's hair -- anything fabric or fabric-like. If on hardwoods, it always looks like a mini playdoh army on my floor when she's through.

-- it's difficult to actually PLAY with. Even I have a hard time pushing the thing down, and it's not manufactured correctly so it wobbles on the chute. I tried using less playdoh, but that didn't help.

And finally, due to the above:

IT BROKE. I was pushing it down as usual and it just snapped (see photo). The plastic is cheap and the ledge of plastic that's supposed to be holding the minion in is just not wide enough to create proper leverage/pressure points. The thing snapped one corner off, and you can see the stress marks on the other corner.

For $10 you can get other minion or other playdoh related toys that will actually work, not break, and not give you a form of "road rage" (I call it "doh'ed rage) when you're trying to clean the tubes and tiny bits of playdoh out of your dog's hair.

Great- could be better But still fun
By Kayla

Great fun for my 4 year old son. I don't really have any complaints I would suggest having a chopstick or something to help get the doh out of cracks and crevices. Like many other play doh toys doh gets in places it shouldn't... for this toy its the actual plunger part that would be 100x better if it were a solid piece instead of hollow aside from that the plunger is a bit smaller than preferred and some doh backs out of the minion base.... so there's alot of missed fun and little more work trying to get the hair to get longer... if you have your own doh at home having two of one color and filling it over full will counter act it.. same stuff gets everywhere just don't have to pay attention to it. Have fun don't think too much about it- its a kids toy kids will make due and enjoy things only we notice are design flaws :D

21-Fart gun salute
By Lee

Our son love the minions and he loves Play-Doh. How could this combination ever be a miss?

It is absolutely one of his favorites, and always gets pulled out when he takes out his Play-Doh for a creative session.

Con: The chair can be difficult for younger kids to push down, so they will likely need some help from older people.
Pros: Purple Minion! Spaghetti Hair, Scissors and of course moulds for creating accessories and outfits.

Our favorite is making a Fart gun.

Poorly made and not worth the money.

Not a fan of this set at all. We bought this our 4 year old son and are very disappointed. The toy is cheaply made, poorly designed, and not much fun to use. It is definitely not a great set for a 4 year old as they don't have the strength to really push the minion down and make the hair grown Therefore the hair barely comes out the top and then they just use the scissors to cut the tiny hair pieces which then end up EVERYWHERE.

This is a huge disappointment. As others stated

This is a huge disappointment. As others stated, the tube to push up the playdough is significantly smaller than the mold. So not much 'hair' comes out.
It's difficult to push down the chair, a small child definitely couldn't do it. I can't tell if the smaller tube helps or hurts this.

Either way, we purchased this and the play-doh fun factory. The fun factory is much better for a similarly priced toy.

With this, I push it down, the kids rip out the hair, small pieces go everywhere, and I try and clean it up and start over again without making a mess.

Since it's sort of functional, I decided to give this 2 stars, but I regret purchasing it even though there was a buyer beware from the reviews.
